Actilax Lactulose Solution for the treatment of constipation (chronic).

Directions

Dosage for chronic constipation:

Adults: Usual initial dose is 15 to 30ml daily. After three days, dose may be reduced to 10 to 25ml daily for maintenance.

Children: It is recommended that Actilax be given to infants and children under medical supervision.

• Age: 7 to 14 years, Initially (3 days): 15ml, Maintenance: 10ml
• Age: 1 to 6 years, Initially (3 days): 10ml, Maintenance: 5 to 10ml
• Age: Infants under 1 year, Initially (3 days): 5ml, Maintenance: 3 to 5ml

May be taken mixed with fruit juice, water or milk.

In general, patients taking Actilax for constipation should drink plenty of fluids and ensure that there is adequate fibre in their diet.

Warnings

Do not use if you suffer from bowel obstruction. Prolonged use of laxatives is undesirable and may lead to dependence. If symptoms persist seek medical advice.Keep out of reach of children.
